If you are thinking of getting married, who will do the ceremony?
Few Rabbis are willing to preside at mixed marriages and many pastors and priests frown on couples who become "unequally yoked."
Face it, there are good reasons for their concerns. After all, both Rabbis and Pastors are responsible for their respective flocks, and cannot be happy about people who forget their heritage. Differences in cultural background, let alone religious convictions, can lead to significant conflicts. These challenges may not seem so obvious when a couple is experiencing the rush of romance. But they will likely surface before long. What will you do?
A Messianic Rabbi may be able to help you. He can show you how the Jew can remain faithful to his Jewish heritage while the Gentile can remain faithful to Jesus (Yeshua). He can provide some counseling to help you learn about the challenges of making an Interfaith marriage work. He can help you study the biblical basis of marriage and family (after all, the Bible is the Holy Book of both Jews and Christians). And you and he agree that it would be appropriate, he may be able to help you plan a unique wedding.
